Mr. Rogers has over 50 years of industry consulting experience including architecture, construction management, estimating, value engineering, claim analysis, building inspection, scheduling, environmental impact surveys and design. During this time, he has held such positions as senior pre-construction manager, designer, senior estimator and project manager. In the field of architecture, Mr. Rogers worked for such internationally known firms as I.M.Pei & Partners and The Ehenkrantz Group. McKee Berger Mansueto and Lendlease were construction management companies that also employed Mr. Rogers. In addition, Mr. Rogers has prepared schematic, design development and final estimates for various projects whose construction costs total well over $50.0 billion. They encompass the restoration, new construction, renovation, adaptive reuse, and interior fit-out of a multitude of projects including hospitals, libraries, hotels, sewage treatment plants, residential high-rises, office buildings, courthouses, and educational facilities. He has also worked on low-income housing complexes for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), interiors projects that included executive office floors and projects involving small specialty shop fixtures.
While working for an architectural millwork contractor, he was a designer and chief estimator who implemented plans to expand the small contractor’s millwork division by increasing sales, improving and expanding the product line, and offering clients turnkey architectural and interior design services. In this position, Mr. Rogers developed an in-house computer estimating system that facilitated the pricing of projects.
In addition to delivering several lectures on New York City architectural history, Mr. Rogers has taught cost estimating and value analysis at New York University, the New York City Technical College, Fordam University and the Regional Alliance for Small Contractors. In 1984, he wrote and published The Story of Old John Street; and has researched, designed and/or illustrated the following books: The Building Cost File (1974); The Design Cost File (1975); Plumbing Estimating Handbook (1975); and The Small Contractors Handbook (1976).
